Baptisms at St. Bernadette's

Baptism at St Bernadette'sIf you would like to arrange for your child to be baptised, please contact the Parish Office (041 581 2035). The priest or deacon will usually need to meet with you a few times to get to know you, talk about baptism, and make sure you are familiar with the Rite. An important point to bear in mind is that you will need at least one confirmed Catholic godparent (ideally two) for the baptism. The role of the godparents is to assist the parents of the child particularly with the faith development of the child. Therefore you should consider carefully whom you choose for this role. The persons should be practicing Catholics who are devout and knowledgeable about the faith,

Normally children are baptised in their parents' parish. If you do not worship regularly in our parish and would like to arrange a baptism at the Oratory for a particular reason, you will need to talk to your own local parish priest first so that he can give permission for the baptism to take place in our church.

If you are an adult who has not been baptised, and are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith, please get in touch with Fr Gregory via the Parish Office or come along to the Adult Instruction Classes.
