YOUNG ORATORY:
- Children’s Liturgy takes place during the 08:30 Mass in the classrooms upstairs in the Parish Centre. This is for children who have not yet made their First Holy Communion. Children who are preparing to receive their First Holy Communion are encouraged to attend the whole of Mass with their families. Contact Denise Schaberg 041 368 2500 for more information.
- Catechism Classes for primary school children take place on Friday afternoons from 17:15-18:15 (during term time) in the Parish Centre. They are prepared for their First Confession, and First Holy Communion and subsequently concentrate on general faith development. Contact Gertie Williams on 082 302 2078 for more information
- Confirmation Classes take place on Thursday evenings 19:00-20:30 (during term time) in the Parish Centre. Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation begins in Grade 8. Contact Br Michael on 0711758037 or Fr Gregory on 041 581 2035 for more information.
- Young Adults programme varies greatly. For information on current events, contact Fr Grant 082 456 3769 for more information.
- Holiday Club for primary school children takes place in the June and December holidays. A fun filled week! High School kids needed to help out too! Watch the newsletter and website for details, or contact Fr Gregory via the Parish office (041 581 2035) for more information. If you want to be a helper, we are always happy for extra hands!

CATECHETICS
- Preparation for Sacraments: see Young Oratory for Junior and High School students
- Adult Instruction Class (RCIA) takes place on Tuesday evenings in the Parish Centre from 19:00-20:00. The course is suitable for any adult interested in being baptized and/or becoming a Catholic or any Catholic wanting to learn more about their faith. PRAYER, SERVICE AND FELLOWSHIP GROUPS
- Society of St Vincent de Paul: The SSVP assists the poor of our local area. They meet regularly and have an invaluable mission particularly to those in need in the Walmer Township. For more information, contact the chairman, Darryl Harrison on 041 581 0578 or 082 651 8985.
- Catholic Women’s League: The Ladies of the Catholic Women’s League meet regularly for prayer, spiritual reflection, fellowship, and for the planning of their many charitable works. They also generously assist the parish whenever needed with catering, preparing palms, and much more. For more information contact the chairlady, Jeanne Stephens on 041 367 4524.
- Knights of Da Gama Council 19 meet at St Bernadette’s. To find out more about their work, contact Colin Walton on 041 583 3501.
- Cell Groups: There are many cell groups active and meeting regularly for faith sharing in the parish. If you are interested in joining a cell group, contact the Parish Office on 041 581 2035.
- Care Ministry: The Care Ministry meet regularly and assist the Fathers and Brothers of the Oratory in their ministry to the parishioners by regularly visiting those in hospital, the housebound, and those in need of care. - Social Committee: The Social Committee organize social events in the parish, including the End-of-Month teas and the Friends of the Oratory Draw. For more information, contact Mario or Jill Gomes on 041 581 2347.
- Divine Mercy: The Divine Mercy group meets on Mondays after the 08:30 Mass. For more information, contact Desire Boezio on 041 368 5283.
- Newman Society: This group meets every second month on the first Wednesday of the month to listen to guest speakers on various topics about faith and culture. For more information, contact Fr Phillip on 082 372 7749.
- Oratory Music Society: Meets every second month (alternating with the Newman Society) on the first Wednesday of the month to learn about how to listen to and appreciate music. For more information, contact Fr Phillip on 082 372 7749.
- The Rosary is recited in the church after the 08:30 Mass on Tuesdays-Saturdays.

LITURGY
- The Parish Choir, which sings at the 08:30 Sunday Mass and on Solemnities, practices after the 17:30 Mass on Thursdays. For more information contact Pauline Penny on 041 367 2659.
- The Guitar Music Group sings at the 18:00 Mass on Sundays. For more information contact Peter Mulligan on 041 581 5119.
- Altar Boys serve at all of our Sunday Masses. If you or your child is interested in becoming an altar server, please contact André Venske on 041 367 1587 or 082 449 2508.
- Sacristans, Flower Arrangers, Ushers and Readers: If you would like to become more involved in the liturgy of the Church in any of these ways, please contact Fr Gregory on 041 581 2035.

OTHER
- Parish Pastoral Council: The PPC assists the Fathers and Brothers of the Oratory in their pastoral care of the parish. If there are any issues or suggestions you would like to have raised at the PPC meetings, feel free to contact Fr Gregory directly or the PPC chairman, Jackie Barclay on 083 400 3743.
- There are many ways you can become involved in parish life. Sewers, gardeners and handymen for example are always needed! Feel free to discuss what talents you have to offer the parish at any time with the Parish Office or Fr Gregory.
